Jannis Gottwald

Jannis Gottwald

CEO

E-Mail: gottwald@trackit.systems

During his studies in geography, he was able to professionalize his knowledge and investigate the spatial use of bats with the help of automatic radio telemetry. He completed his doctorate in December 2022 in the Environmental Informatics working group at the Department of Geography at the Philipps University of Marburg. His last at trackIT Systems is to link the domain of environmental protection, user proximity, practical applicability and technical implementation.

Patrick Lampe

Patrick Lampe

CFO

E-Mail: lampe@trackit.systems

After studying computer science, Patrick began his scientific career in the Distributed Systems group. He has conducted research on interruption-tolerant networks and environmental monitoring. He has made contributions to automatic radio telemetry, automated non-lethal moth traps and the automatic detection of bird species based on bird calls. His role at trackIT Systems is the operational management of the company.

Jonas Höchst

Jonas Höchst

CTO

E-Mail: hoechst@trackit.systems

Jonas discovered the challenges of digitalization in the field of biodiversity and nature conservation as part of his work in the Nature 4.0 project. As part of his doctoral studies in computer science, he researched the use of sensor data to improve the quality of services and algorithms in the field of distributed systems. His particular focus was on the practical applicability of the solutions, especially with real installations and under real conditions. Jonas heads up the Technical Development department at trackIT Systems and continues to develop the methods and technologies used.

Christian Birk

Christian Birk

Hardware

E-Mail: birk@trackit.systems

After studying electrical engineering and information technology, Chris studied physics at the Philipps University of Marburg and supported the team as a student assistant during the Nature 4.0 project. At trackIT Systems, he is responsible for the development and design of hardware components. His tasks range from the selection of components, PCB layout and validation using prototype software to preparing the production of small quantities.

Tobias Petschinka

Tobias Petschinka

Nature conservation projects

E-Mail: petschinka@trackit.systems

Tobi has a background in species conservation and has worked in practical nature conservation for the Landesbund für Vogel- und Naturschutz (LBV) and contributed to the protection of the Eurasian curlew. There he got to know the technology for automatic telemetry and used it to make the project a success. At trackIT Systems, he is responsible for the management of nature conservation projects and takes care of project planning and realization in consultation with associations and research institutions.

Melina Morch

Melina Morch

App Development

E-Mail: morch@trackit.systems

Melli joined the software development team at trackIT Systems while completing her Master’s degrees in Computer Science and Cultural Data Studies. She brings experience in developing full-stack applications and websites for both academic and industrial projects. At trackIT Systems, she leads the development of the EcoHub Field mobile app, focusing specifically on optimizing usability for field operations. Additionally, she contributes to the development of the Sonari Audio Annotation Tool, used for annotating audio data to support machine learning development.

Artur Sterz

Artur Sterz

Software Development

E-Mail: sterz@trackit.systems

Artur completed his doctorate at the Philipps University of Marburg, where he specialized in intelligent wireless networks and edge computing. At trackIT Systems, he develops new methods and software systems for distributed data acquisition, evaluation and visualization. In particular, his expertise in the development of complex software systems and the integration of various sensor technologies helps to improve the accuracy of our systems.

Carolina Kordges

Carolina Kordges

Nature conservation projects

E-Mail: kordges@trackit.systems

Caro started working on the Nature 4.0 project early on while studying for her master’s degree in biodiversity and nature conservation. This was followed by a focus on monitoring bats using net trapping and manual telemetry as well as automated detection using light barriers. As a long-time employee of ChiroTec, she was able to acquire extensive technical knowledge on the (installation) construction of light barriers and gain insight into the social behavior of the species.

Michael Fuchs

Michael Fuchs

AI-Development

E-Mail: fuchs@trackit.systems

Michael completed his studies at the Philipps University of Marburg and specialized in artificial intelligence and machine learning in his master’s degree. He has experience from projects on (medical) image segmentation and classification and investigated the detection of skin cancer using neural networks in his thesis. At trackIT Systems, he is responsible for the further development of AI for the identification of animal species in audio recordings.

Daniel Knitter

Daniel Knitter

Geograph

E-Mail: knitter@trackit.systems

Daniel has been working in the field of modeling and data analysis for many years and brings experience from working in interdisciplinary and international projects. As a geographer, he has a passion for all processes that take place in the landscape or are shaped by it. He brings his experience in this field to trackIT Systems in order to bring the collected data sets into their spatial context and analyze them.
